Complete Surrender - Elizabeth Cantrall

Your shield weighs heavily on your arm as you stand
with your sword gleaming in the setting sun,
and there across the field,
your enemy watches.
A creature more magnificent none have seen.
Silver armor blinds your eyes,
and wings whiter than the cleanest snow beg for your fingers’ gentle touch,
but you stand fast,
wary, lest beauty itself dare approach.
And it does.
With a sword raised in challenge, it comes.
Unyielding, you charge
and find yourself in an embrace so warm you forget your fear.
The wings of light fold in around you.
Feathers gently caress your face.
Your hand abandons the sword to the earth below;
your will to fight flees for a safer haven.
Your arm abandons the shield to the grass at your feet;
your desire for safety flies from your grasp.
You accept the thrust to your heart most willingly,
your own hands guiding the blade to its mark.
There is no pain, no regret,
only a wild ecstasy,
knowing your enemy has become your one dream,
your one wish,
your one desire,
as you fall to your knees
in complete surrender.
There's a quote i really like. "When love beckons to you, follow him, Though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold you yield to him, Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you." That's Kahlil Gibran talking about love. i dont know about you...but i've never been sure about love. it's always been a confusing thing. i think the poet Gibran's given me the best advice i could find on it.
i was thinking of this quote when i was bored and just typing some random words on the computer. eventually this is what ended up coming from me.

There are VERY few poems that I fall in love with, this is one of them. Your other poems were good, this was beautiful. The parts that didn't seem like they would normaly fit just seemed like plays on words. lol, I wish I had writen it first. Awesome job.
